Discover Goderdzi — Green Lake
The drive from Batumi to Green Lake passes through Keda and Khulo, climbs the mountain road to Goderdzi Pass and then continues to Mtsvane Tba. The lake sits at around 2,058 metres above sea level, among forested slopes and alpine meadows.
In clear weather, the lake water looks especially vivid against the surrounding spruce and beech forest. You can walk along the shore, enjoy a picnic and take in the mountain scenery. It is a good place for a relaxed stop after the long drive and a chance to experience the nature of Upper Adjara.
Allow almost a full day for this trip: the road crosses mountainous terrain, and the final approach to the lake may be rough. A high-clearance vehicle or four-wheel drive can be useful for the last section. Access depends on the season, weather and road conditions, so check for current restrictions before setting off and allow time for the return journey.
