Discover Batumi – Jvarimindori – Gomis Mta
This mountain loop links Batumi, Shuakhevi, Jvarimindori and Gomis Mta before returning via Ozurgeti.
Shuakhevi is a convenient stop before the climb into the highlands. Jvarimindori is a summer pasture near the border of Adjara and Guria, at around 2,000 metres above sea level. The area opens onto broad mountain views, and the old wooden Khabelashvilebi Bridge is nearby.
From Jvarimindori, the route continues towards Gomis Mta along mountain tracks connecting the highland areas. Some sections are unpaved, with steep climbs and winding roads. A high-clearance 4WD vehicle and an experienced driver are needed. Rain can change the condition of dirt sections, so check that the route is passable before setting off.
After a stop at Gomis Mta, the road descends to Ozurgeti and returns to Batumi. This is a long, full-day drive: the distance and travel time are estimates for driving only and do not include stops. It can be cool at altitude even in summer, so bring warm clothes and water, and refuel before the mountain section.
