Discover Mtirala National Park
From central Batumi, the road first follows the coast to Chakvi. There, it turns inland and continues for about 15 km on a narrow paved road to the village of Chakvistavi and the national park visitor centre. Check the centre’s opening hours and visitor information before setting off.
Mtirala is a large nature park of dense Colchic forests, mountain rivers and waterfalls. At the visitor centre, you can learn about the trails and choose a walk that suits you. The approximately 7 km Tsablnari circular trail leads to a small lake and a waterfall; more experienced hikers can take the approximately 16 km Tsivtskaro trail, which takes two days.
This trip is a lovely way to experience Adjara’s nature and can fill a full day when combined with a hike. The road to the visitor centre is narrow and winding, while trails in the park can be wet and slippery after rain. Bring comfortable walking shoes and a rain jacket, and choose a trail according to its length and difficulty.
